As We Watch For His Glorious Appearing

“…looking for the blessed hope
and glorious appearing
of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ
who gave himself for us that he might
redeem us from every lawless deed
AND PURIFY FOR HIMSELF
his own special people, zealous for good works.”
Titus 2:13-14

Christ gave himself for us not only for salvation, but also that he might redeem us from sin and purify us. Trying to achieve sinlessness is not our work, it’s impossible – no mortal man can fulfill the demands of “the law.” But as we walk closely with him, HE purifies us – day by day, story by story, because we ARE “his own special people.”

It seems such a slow process, but when you plant a seed you don’t then kneel down and watch to see the growth. You simply know that what was planted will grow – imperceptibly for awhile – but will eventually reach maturity. And so it is with us – a seemingly imperceptible growth as HE purifies us, and it will eventually produce its fruit.

As we continue let us constantly watch, looking for that blessed hope and glorious appearing of Jesus Christ. The Rapture can take place at any moment. Understanding this motivates us to remain faithful, to remain pure, and to continue in our ministry and calling until the moment he takes us to be with himself, for he will come suddenly and unexpectedly …therefore always be ready.

“For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout,
with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God.
And the dead in Christ will rise first.
Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up
together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.
And thus we shall always be with the Lord.”
1st Thessalonians 4:16-17
