Wisdom Can Be Painful

“Now therefore listen to me, children,
for blessed are those who keep my ways.
Hear instruction and be wise and do not disdain it.
Blessed is the man who listens to me…”
Proverbs 8:32-34
Oftentimes wisdom is difficult. It’s not always the more pleasant way, but it IS the most successful way.
“WISDOM IS THE PRINCIPAL THING,
therefore get wisdom.
and in all your getting, get understanding.”
Proverbs 4:7
This is instruction from our God, and we need to heed it. He teaches us the right way, BECAUSE HE WANTS TO BLESS US. He desires that we walk in it because he WANTS the very best for us, but the problem is that oftentimes his way will oppose our way. For those who choose his way as a way of life, there will be great blessing, joy, and success. On the other hand, our way can lead to disaster:
“There is a way that SEEMS right to a man,
but its end is the way of death.”
Proverbs 14:12
Just because something feels right to you, it may not be. In fact, it can make things end up very, very wrong. Seek the way and the will of God in everything you do. Do NOT lean to your own understanding, because your perspective is limited. Choose, therefore, to surrender your way to the Lord, for he DOES know all and he is the only one who can lead you in the right way.
Father, teach me wisdom and show me your ways that I might walk in them and find success.
“Show me YOUR ways, O Lord,
teach me your paths.
Lead me in your truth and teach me,
for you are the God of my salvation,
ON YOU I wait all the day.”
Psalm 25:4-5
