Things We Don’t Think To Thank God For
“Offer to God thanksgiving,
and pay your vows to the Most High.
Call upon me in the day of trouble;
I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.”
Psalm 50:14-15
Before you ask anything of the Lord, first bring thanksgiving to him. Oh HOW we take for granted the many blessings he has blessed us with! If your eyes see, think about those who are blind. If your ears hear, think about those who are deaf. If your legs carry you, think about those who are paralyzed. Remember “There, but for the grace of God, go I,” and bring thanksgiving to God for the many blessings in your life that you’ve taken for granted.
Help yourself to realize how very blessed you are, even amid any trial you may be going through. Write down all the things you’re thankful for, things you don’t ordinarily even think of. Thank him for the phone or computer you’re reading this on. Thank him for your washer and dryer, or your access to one. Thank him for the shower in your bathroom. Thank him for the clothes you were able to acquire. Thank him for your stove. Thank him for the green grass, the beauty of his handiwork in the clouds and skies and oceans and forests. Thank him for the rain and the snow. Thank him for the privilege of knowing him.
Thank God for every single thing you’ve never thanked him for. Keep writing, and write some more, and then some more …and you will be astonished at the blessings of God in your life.
Vs 50:
‘Whoever offers praise glorifies me;
and to him who orders his conduct aright
I will show the salvation of God.’
