God Is Good

“Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good;
Sing praises to his name, for it is pleasant.”
Psalm 135:3
Many believe that the Lord ISN’T good. How can a loving God, they ask, allow such atrocities on earth?
God chooses not to interfere with the downward spiral of the consequences of sin which entered into the world at the fall of Adam. When Adam brought sin into the world, the death principle took over and from then on, everything DEvolves and everything dies. Our very DNA devolves, causing all sorts of diseases. It’s the death principle. God allows all things during this period of time, to teach us things we couldn’t learn any other way.
Free will is a gift to all, and the Lord will not take that away. When there is free will, there are people who will choose the wrong way and bring destruction upon themselves and others. Sin carries consequences both to us and to others and brings all manner of evil upon the world.
A second point is that it’s more effective to SHOW a principle than to TELL about a principle. God has chosen this period of time during which he will teach mankind about the principles he has TOLD us about in his Word. He has demonstrated those principles through the lives of those recorded in his Word, in the Bible stories. Read them to understand this principle.
God needs to teach us about sin. If you tell your child not to touch a stove because it’s hot, your child may doubt that - because he WANTS to touch the stove. Finally you’ll ALLOW that, so that he will learn.
The time of our pilgrimage will come to an end and the Lord will return to this earth to bring in the Kingdom of righteousness, peace, joy, and restoration. And then all will know, all will understand that God is good.
