What Works – And What Doesn’t

“But avoid foolish disputes, genealogies,
contentions, and strivings about the law;
for they are unprofitable and useless.”
Titus 3:9
Think about it. When have foolish disputes ever succeeded in producing anything good? Yet we go on arguing. Why?
All true change comes only by revelation from the Spirit of God.
“Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah,
for flesh and blood has not REVEALED this to you,
but my Father who is in heaven.”
Matthew 16:17
Argument only breeds annoyance at best, and hostility at worst. It puts distance between the hearts of those involved.
But when the Holy Spirit speaks to a person’s heart, it can change that person’s life in an instant.
Therefore, let us stop futile arguing, stop nagging, and start bringing issues to God alone. And leave them there. He is well able to show the truth to anyone who may be deceived. That should be your prayer, rather than trying to do it yourself with useless arguing, making matters even worse.
It’s not for us to argue the negatives, but to proclaim the truth and then leave it there. Don’t go on harping on it. While arguing engenders strife, proclaiming the truth can change a life, but only God himself can accomplish it because it comes only by revelation to the human heart.
Stop the arguments. They don’t, they can’t …work. Turn your arguing into a gentle and quiet spirit, which can work wonders.
“…with the incorruptible beauty
of a gentle and quiet spirit,
which is very precious in the sight of God.”
1st Peter 34
